Lew Kirton – Heaven in the Afternoon.

Expasion records classic album series continues with ‘Heaven In The Afternoon’,a slightly rearranged and added to version of an LP ‘Just Arrived’ – originally released in 1980.

Lew Kirton was in Barbados where he first sang in his local Anglican choir and in local ensembles where he was known as Jigs Kirton.
In 1969 he joined the Sam & Dave Revue as their drummer before becoming a member of The Ivitations
in 1972 and scoring a hit with ‘They Say The Girl’s Crazy’. The Invitations in fact cut a number of Philly flavours for Silver Blue Records in the 70s that today remain extremely collectible.

In 1977 he began cutting some sides for TK’s Marlin label in Florida, then in 1978 recorded the 12 inch single only release for which he is best known ‘Heaven In The Afternoon’. Two years later ‘Just Arrived’ was released on another
TK subsidiary, Alston Records. It was his only album for the label, though while at TK Lew also lay some vocals as guest artist with B. Baker’s Chocolate Company.

In 1983 Lew moved to New York are recorded a further album ‘Talk To Me’for Believe In A Dream Records through Sony, the in 1986 the single ‘Don’t Wanna Wait’ became his last release to date.

Lew still lives in New York where his newly recorded album awaits a release.
In the meantime, this re-release takes the original ‘Just Arrived’ album and adds the classic ‘Heaven In The Afternoon’ (previously never on an album) and one of his glorious 7 inch sides ‘Do What You Want, Be What You Are’.
