• Shalamar were formed in 1978 by Don Cornelius, the producer and host of the legendary music show “Soul Train”, and featured Howard Hewett, Jeffrey Daniels & Jody Watley.

• This 3 Albums on 2 CD’s set features Shalamar’s first three albums “Uptown Festival”, “Disco Gardens” and “Big Fun”.

• “Uptown Festival” got the group off to a great start as it featured the single of the same name, a Smash Hit on both sides of the Atlantic, as it was a medley of some of the greatest Motown hits ever recorded. This package also includes as a bonus track the 7” single version.

• Shalamar followed “Uptown Festival” with “Disco Gardens” which included their next Big Hit ‘Take That To The Bank’. It was Top 20 in the UK & #11 in the U.S. R&B chart; the band were really off and running.

• The third album on this package is “Big Fun”, and that album was chock-full of hits and dance grooves, including ‘I Owe You One’, ‘Right In The Socket’ and the No.1 R&B Hit ‘The Second Time Around’. 

• This package also features as bonus tracks some of the 7” & 12” mixes of the hit singles.

• With fantastic sleeve notes written by Christian John Wikane, a New York based music journalist, who interviewed Jody Watley specially for this package, we have the Shalamar package their fans have been wanting for years.
