This LP, spread across a series of BBC studio sessions, captures the young Sheffield singer at his rawest, before the world stage and stadium tours, when the magic still smelled of smoke and late-night tapes. 
Cocker transformed those familiar songs into something strange and beautiful. 
His cover of "With a Little Help from My Friends" had just begun its journey to become even more famous than the original, a transformation that impressed Paul McCartney, though he was reportedly a little jealous.
