Love Childs Afro Cuban Blues Band was the brainchild of producer / composer / arranger Michael Zager, who had great success with the Michael Zager Band and Ten Wheel Drive, and went on to produce Grammy Award winning artists such as Whitney Houston, Cissy Houston, Gladys Knight, Peabo Bryson, Luther Vandross, Deniece Williams, Jennifer Holliday, Joe Williams, Arturo Sandoval, the Spinners and Herb Alpert, among others. 

SpanDisco, recorded in 1978, features a stellar crop of some of the finest musicians in the world including Frank Wess (flute, tenor sax); Lou Marini (flute, alto sax); Ronnie Cuber (baritone sax); Dave Taylor (bass trombone); John Gatchell (trumpet); Michael Zager (keyboards); Jeff Mironov (guitar); Larry Quinn (guitar); Clifford Morris (guitar); Steve Gadd (drums); Rubens Bassini (percussion); Luis Ortiz (trumpet); Arnie Lawrence (alto sax); Bob Babbitt (bass); Arnold McCuller (background vocals); Cissy Houston (background vocals) and David Lasley (background vocals).
