Records of the late ‘60s, ‘70s and early ‘80s of Capitol
Records’ albums by the legendary Nancy Wilson, the 2-CD
combining 1978’s MUSIC ON MY MIND and the 1979 followup
LIFE, LOVE & HARMONY is not only a welcome addition
but finally brings to compact disc two albums that Nancy’s
fans worldwide have long been requesting for reissue.

Produced by Los Angeles-based producer, composer and
conducted Clarence MacDonald, MUSIC ON MY MIND
featured mostly songs written specifically for Nancy by
writers that included MacDonald, Deniece Williams, Lani
Groves and Fritz Baskett. Recorded live at Capitol Records
with a full complement of rhythm, strings, horns and
background vocalists, the well-received album was both
fitting for the times and for the pioneering songstress,
then celebrating her 25th year as a recording artist at
Capitol.

The 1979 set LIFE, LOVE & HARMONY was conceived,
produced and written by the team of Larry Farrow
(Nancy’s then-musical director) and Carolyn Johns and
featured eight of nine compositions penned with Nancy in
mind. Standouts included the now-classic jazz-flavoured
track ‘Sunshine,’ the dance-oriented title track and
ballads ‘Open Up Your Heart And Take Me In’ and
‘Wrapped Up In The Comfort Of Your Love.’ This expanded
edition includes two singles from the LP.

Outstanding liner notes by renowned U.S. writer A. Scott
Galloway include quotes from producers of both albums
and others involved with the sessions.
